I just got an iPhone. I was expecting to be able to easily get Voeveo wallpapers on it, but no go. You can't receive MMS images on the
iPhone. I do get the link delivered as text. Then i click the link and it takes me to the URL in the iPhone Safari. But then i have no way to save
that image anywhere. Then when i go to try to type the URL in on my computer, there is nothing there.

So does anyone know how to the the image to save to use for a wallpaper??

Hi Mapache,
Damn! I've just done a quick search of forums and it does seem that Apple has made it incredibly difficult for their customers to download images from the net. Why would Apple create a "revolutionary new mobile phone" (their words) with wifi, and then block their users from using some of the basic features of the internet? Beats me. There do seem to be a few hacks and programs out there, but these are unofficial, and I wouldn't advise uploading unproven programs or hacks to your expensive new device. Here's a page I found about saving images that doesn't seem to use any hacks or tricks, although it may not apply to general images. And here's the user guide from Apple, which may shed some light if you haven't looked over it already. Does anyone else have some useful advise about how to download on the iPhone?
Mapache, let us know how you get on with this. It may be that we have to set iPhones to be incompatible with our image content, which would be a real shame. I'll be happy to refund your prepay credit if this is the case, however.

Hi Mapache, Here's a page that reckons you can save images from Safari on your iPhone, and gives you instructions. Let us know if you have any luck.

It looks like it should be possible very soon. I guess Apple got enough WTF's from their customers. The next firmware update will allow it, 1.2.0 couple posts about it here: Cruch Gear iPod hacks So once you have that latest firmware and you should be away, looks like by end of June the iPhone will be voeveo friendly (image wise anyway). Unless you can get the beta version a bit earlier :)

so here is what i have discovered...

you can control Photos in iTunes. I made a Folder in the "Pictures" Folder called "Wallpapers". I put all of my iPhone wallpapers in that folder. I then set it in iTunes to sync images and then i can select images on my iPhone and make them the wallpaper.

the problem is now when i purchase a wallpaper, a text is sent to my iPhone. I then click the link and it opens in Safari on my iPhone. There is no way for me to click and save that image, so it is just stuck there in purgatory. I have to get a 3rd party hack software that allows you to do that. I hope voeveo can develop an option to send a link to my email rather than my phone so i can upload wallpapers directly from my computer until Apple resolves this issue.

Thanks mapache We were really mulling over some options to address this issue, but given that Apple has announced they will enable the direct download feature in the next firmware version in June (my post above) it seems as if they have addressed it for us. This is awesome news for us, especially given we will be rolling out a mobile version(beta anyway) of our site around the same time. On a personal rant, I think It is fairly ridiculous that they failed to include such a basic feature of the web experience, and something that has been possible on even the most basic mobile phones for many years. The mobile web is the mobile web, and asking people to sync, side-load etc seems very counter intuitive to the 'always connected' experience that a device like the iPhone is supposed to create. What's the point if you have to go and site at a desk in and hook it up. I currently have a love/hate relationship with Apple, given Im typing this on my macbook pro, and shudder at the thought of working on windows ever again ;) Ok, rant ends. Just a bit of background on the download urls we send. They are currently restricted to the mobile device of the buyer and that is why when you visit it with a regular browser you can't see the image. This is a security feature and is intended to benefit the seller so that others can't just forward it on. But in cases where there is no DRM indicated it may not be necessary for us to be that strict? We could remove this restriction for non-DRM content and people can just visit the url in their computer browsers. This would allow iPhone users to download and sync until Apple releases their firmware update in June. Given that this is only an issue for iPhone users, and soon to be addressed by Apple anyway Im a bit reluctant to go that way....would be keen to know your thoughts though? Cheers
