Why is a text message used for matching when email works better and isn't blocked like text messaging is for many of us?

I'm not sure what you mean about a sms message used for matching? If you mean the sms message we send out for phone confirmation, the reason we do this is to ensure that we are able to deliver to your phone, network and country. That way there is no possibility of you buying a piece of mobile content, and us being unable to deliver it to you. Any content you buy will also be delivered using this method.

What I mean is most cellular services charge a fee to receive text messages so many of us have that feature blocked! Therefore, if it is blocked then we can't match the phone using that method!

The reason we send text messages is because in many countries (apart from the US and Canada) receiving a text message is free. The good news is that many operators in North America are adjusting their plans and services because of consumer pressure. You may want to contact your operator and see if they have a new plan that has better rates :)

We also use text messages because most mobile phone users can receive an SMS but not everyone has email on their mobile phone.
